LPN - Operating Room (Full-Time)

UPMC Hamot's Operating Room has opportunities for Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)! This position will be functioning as a Surgical Technologist role, as LPNs are unable to circulate in the OR.
We have a 17 suite operating room that offers wide variety of specialties from Robotics, Kidney Transplants, Trauma and almost everything in between.
We provide high quality care for both our elective and urgent patients from infant to geriatrics.

Purpose:
Provide overall quality nursing care administered to assigned patients on the designated shift.
Under the direction of a Professional Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse with Meds and IV's is expected to use initiative, basic problem solving skills and exercise some judgment in the practice of nursing to administer medication and peripheral IV's as appropriate.
Perform a variety of tasks in an operating room that assist the surgical team.
Arrange sterile setup for surgical procedures; pass instruments, sponge and suture to surgeons and surgical assistants; prepare sterile supplies; assist in cleanup of the operating room; check placement and operation of equipment; and check and restock operating room.
During surgical procedures may be responsible for special trays, graft materials, and record patient data.

Completion of approved Practical Nursing program or equivalent New graduate or current experience as LPN with Meds/IVs in a healthcare setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer knowledge and skills This position typically reports to the Nursing Director Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure in the Commonwealth of PennsylvaniaCertified in medication administration and intravenous administrationCPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.
Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
